We had an Elder who had no children. He was always complaining from the podium that small children should not have coloring books, dolls, trucks, stuffed toys, markers or anything that would cause a distraction to others. They would need to sit and listen to the program no matter what age they were. Many times after the meetings ,he would talk with the parents to see why they needed to bring all these toys to the Kingdom Hall. Well, wouldn't you know it,his wife got pregnant. Now,his wife was bringing coloring books, markers and human size dolls to the hall in order to keep the baby quiet.Since he was an elder,no one ever said anything to him out of fear.

Just checked out e-watchman....
by ex-nj-jw ini just took a peek at the e-watchman site and forum... omg i have a headache.. these people are crazier than i remember, and i'm totally confused about what they are saying.
granted i did not read all of there threads, but the ones i did read made my head spin.. someone would ask a question and they'd get a (in my opinion) vague answer and suddenly it was all clear for them.
on person was asking if she should have a baby 'in these times", most of the responses were "if you feel stong enough to raise a child", type things.

ex-nj-jw I would stay away from e-watchman.He is a complete nut-job.My head spins when I read his posts. He agrees with many of the WTS teachings and thinks he knows more than the average person. He is strange and delusional.

Would Blondie or Mary ever make it as Elders in your old Congregation?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwe know the wts will never except woman as elders.in the last year as a member of jwd,i have learned more from blondie and mary than any elder in my congregation.all the elders in my congregation look like they go thru the motions.they are more like policy enforcers than teachers.. do you think that by excepting woman, some men would be embarassed to how little they know?
does the wts know some woman would better teachers?
is it more like a men's club?

Is it because if a man and woman Elder would be together in the same room in an Elders meeting, they would somehow think more about passion than business?
We know they teach woman can't teach but in the New Testament is was alright to have slaves.Slavery was done away . It seems some teachings can change but not others.
Thank you BLONDIE and MARY!

Elder lost privilages due to 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Why?
by RULES & REGULATIONS in1 timothy 3:1-7 reads:.
if any man is reaching out for an office of overseer, he is desirous of a fine work.2the overseer should therefore be irreprehensible, a husband of one wife, moderate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach,3not a drunken brawler, not a smiter, but reasonable, not belligerent, not a lover of money,4a man presiding over his own household in a fine manner, having children in subjection with all seriousness;5(if indeed any man does not know how to preside over his own household, how will he take care of gods congregation?
)6not a newly converted man, for fear that he might get puffed up [with pride] and fall into the judgment passed upon the devil.7moreover, he should also have a fine testimony from people on the outside, in order that he might not fall into reproach and a snare of the devil.. .

Would you know if the Elders in the congregation make the decision to make another Elder loose his privileges? Or is the CO and PO called on the matter?

An Elder in my congregation lost his privilages last month due to one of his baptized teens being disfellowshipped. He has 2 other teens that still attend and both are baptized. He sent a letter to the Society to see why he was demoted and he was told that what is written in 1 Timothy 3 :1-6 stands. He was relieved of being an elder.
My questions are:Since when is someone responsible for the actions of a teen? Could he loose his privilages if he had 5 kids that still attend the meetings and just one quits or gets disfellowshipped? What does this scripture really mean?

What a great letter ! I don't think there is anything more you can do.It has taken me close to 30 years to finally realize that the WTS are a cult and how demanding they are. They start you out with: just do a little Bible study, attend the Public Talk. It looks like they really care about you. Then, once you are baptized, you do everything you are told or else.
I think you need to give him time.Who knows how long it will take for him to come around? It doesn't matter how weak or strong of a faith he has.He needs to find out himself about the WTS. With the internet,it's easier to get info on them and see how they work. There are more members leaving than before.Their load is too heavy, lies are catching up to them, and most members stay only because of family.

Name "UNWRITTEN" Rules That JWs Are Supposed To Follow
by minimus inas with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.
here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.
jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".

I was counseled once for sitting in a row of seats by myself. We were told to sit in the middle rows sitting next to someone or near someone.
I was counseled once for not having a Service bag.I would carry the books in my hand. Two elders told me," We don't carry our books that way."
I was counseled once for not carrying all the books in my Service bag even if we didn't need them that day.One elder even lifted my Service bag once to see if I was carrying books in my bag.I would carry just the Watchtower Magazine,Bible, and Song Book on Sunday's.
That is why I call myself RULES & REGULATIONS because that's all they care about. How they look and what they look like to other people.

I walked out in the middle of the Watchtower Study yesterday............
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini'm down to 1 meeting per week and that is even becoming difficult to attend.i read blondie's excellent reviews of the weekly watchtower study and that keeps my sanity when reading the weekly study.
yesterday,i walked out in the middle of the study and went home because of some comments that were made after the reading of paragraph 5.here is blondie's study article and one comment that was made at the meeting.. .
clearly, jesus was concerned that his followers too could become distracted by satan's world, even to the point that they might "return to the things behind.

Thank you for finding and posting the article "Why are you looking forward to 1975? "
I remember an elder and his family sold their Hot Dog+Beef Stand business and pioneered because the end was near. When 1975 came and went,he bought back the business a few years later. He became so frustrated that he later quit being a Witness. We always knew that the WTS said those things as the article states, but never caught on.

I leaned over to my dub wife and said" you don't know how these comments piss me off". My wife WELL remembers how the brothers and the C.O. was looking at there watches and counting off the days till 1975 would be here and the end would come. I also told her that I cannot understand why so many don't see what I was seeing in these comments and what the Watchtower was stating.
Gumby: We all know you went back for the family. My family and I also went thru 1975.I walked out because it bothered me that these comments were all lies and that the WTS always blames its members for leaving and that "THEY" the members read into things.I went to the bathroom, called my wife{ who is not a Witness }and demanded that she pick me up as soon as possible.I got in the car and told her I was happy that she never believed in the CRAPTOWER.She told me to calm down since I was so riled up.Now,I'm going to get a call from my mom to see why I left early.
